Changing email addresses

Postby akaFrankCastle » Fri Jun 24, 2011 9:35 pm

Just wanted to throw this up on the board to prevent any problems people have been having with accounts. A few months ago we instituted the "Activation Process" for new users, a tool built in to the board. When a new account is created, an Admin or Mod has to activate that account before access to the board is given. This was done to combat a spam attack we had.

Here's the important part to you. If you, the previously activated and authenticated user, change your email address on the site in your account settings, your account is deactivated. This is a default function of the site and cannot be changed. Bottom line, new email address = activation requirement.

So, if any current users are planning to change an email address, for whatever reason, AND you do not want to be delayed in being able to access the site (pretty much applies to everyone!), let one of us (the Admins and Mods) know before hand. Otherwise you could be locked out of the site for a few hours until one of us turns you back on. Not a big deal, but if you are a site junkie you might not want wait.
