1/8" sheet metal

Postby phyler » Fri Dec 17, 2021 8:20 pm

Anyone have a piece of 1/8” sheet metal laying around? Looking for something 6-8" wide by 20-24" long.

Altitude has almost nothing in their drop yard. Haven't made it to K&K yet. Figured I'd ask here.

I’ll take a look in my pile this weekend and let ya know.

ACE and Home Depot sometimes has that small of a piece sometimes. Might check.

I looked at Home Depot and Lowes. They don't carry anything that thick in their sheet metal. I'll look at Ace. There's not one super close. Maybe tractor supply?

I could probably use 14ga instead of 1/8. Trying to build a hanger for some tools so I don't think 16ga will be strong enough.

Rough cut and rusty are fine so long as the rust isn't too serious. Thank you! Happy to meet you to pick it up.

Just checked. I’ve got 3/16 so twice as thick as you were looking for.

Thanks. I have a plate of 3/16 and it would work but drilling the holes I need to drill would take forever vs 1/8 or 14ga. Sounds like Rob has me taken care of. I might try on a piece of 16ga I have here.

Mostly finished. I needed a project and saw something similar online and thought, that would be fun to make. Needs some paint and to be mounted to the wall. I think I'll have a couple of open spots once I put all the clamps in it. It holds 16 and I'll come close to filling it.

First pic is it laid out before I bent it up.

Finished pics with it mounted in the vice to show it off. ImageImageImage
