They are "Promaxx" formally "Patriot". I'll give them a try. Western engine recommended them to me. They said they have used them on several sbf and had good results. They are about 950 shipped, so half the cost of more name brand heads.

On that note I like my Taurus fan setup. we'll see how it works in the high heat.

I run what appears to be a stock setup. It works, so I'm inclined not to fix it! If I do, it'll be the Taurus fan or some other dual speed electric.

Parasitic drag / horsepower loss is certainly a factor........keeping it cool seems to be more important in our rigs

I agree. I went with the Taurus fan because I had it laying in the garage. If it doesn't work on those hot days I will go back to a mechanical fan.

No problem. Im around this weekend. Actually gonna pull the radiator and fan out to pull the balancer and get it redone. So it wont be complete.

It takes horsepower to turn a good fan that can move enough air to keep a small Bronco radiator cool. It doesn't matter if it's driven off the belt or driven by the alternator, the load is the same. You won't gain horsepower by going electric.

Isn't it more of a question of efficiency? Amount of cooling/hp? If it takes more mechanical energy to turn the mechanical fan than it does to generate the electricity needed to make the same amount of cooling from the electric fan then the electric fan wins...

Seems more theoretical than anything, I wonder if you'd feel much of a difference driving down the road.

Seems relevant: http://www.onallcylinders.com/2012/07/2 ... r-vehicle/
