In the spirit of Chris's build, and for those that get the Elrey network on DirecTv, they have the 50th Anniversary Baja 500 Sunday at 6pm.

74 Baja Race Bronco - Baja or Bust

Postby landshark » Sat Sep 08, 2018 9:14 pm

Finished working on most of the frame, cutting off what I don’t need, track bar drop bracket, stock shock mounts etc. turned out the stock track bar bracket was junk so cut that off too and used a heavy duty drop bracket I had laying around and fabbed up a new one.

Image

Re-enforced some spots on the frame, leaf spring hangers, radius arm frame mounts, both sides of the frame where the steering box mounts and a few other spots. Threw a quick coat of paint on it.

Image

Mounted the rear springs, axle is under it but still have to cut out some of the back brace to make room for the spring perch and u bolts and burn in the rear brake brackets.

Image

Image

Working on the Dana44, should have it rebuilt tomorrow and hopefully get it mounted under the frame manãna.

Sure makes it a lot easier to hang that stuff onto a bare frame! Or at least, that is my assumption as I've never had that luxury!

Those lift blocks are saaaweeet!!

Front end is rebuilt and re-geared and then slid it under the frame. Welded the front and rear lower shock mounts, started running fuel, brake and transmission cooling lines.

Whose leaf spring plate is that? I feel like I have some issues with mine, even tho they are extra thick...

Ruff stuff, i run one on my 69 without any issues the last few years. I welded the spring perches on them as they come as just a plate.

Thanks! I need to take a closer look at my setup. Seems after a couple trips, I get a vibration and last time it was due to loose u-bolts and the axle wasn't parallel to the frame.

Me too! It’s probably ready to be picked up as they pulled it right after that run today. I need a cherry picker to get it out of your pickup.

I have both. I'm not in town this weekend but could possibly help one afternoon next week.

Technically it doesn’t say you can’t have EFI and I explored that option but the racers can point and cry foul so I am trying to stay true to the spirit of the class and stay in their good graces.

No size or power limit.

Forgot I started to weigh stuff.

Will weigh the transfer case and transmission when I pull it again. Need to weigh the leveler to subtract it from the transmission.

Will also weigh both ends of the bronco once I have a few more things on it.
