Cam's 73'

Postby CamTheRam17 » Mon Jul 15, 2019 7:37 pm

Hey there, my name's Cam, my dad just bought a 73' bronco with a 302, 3 speed standard transmission for me and my 2 brothers, I'm 15 and this is my dads 8th bronco but I've helped him fix up the last 7 (including this one) and it doesnt look like it's in too great of shape at the moment, but we have a replacement hood, power steering gear, power brake booster, and grille already but are waiting on a fender, doors and seats but we also have a soft top ready to go on. We plan on adding the power steering, maybe power brakes, and maybe a little 3" lift. The motor looks to be in great shape, but we will be replacing the points, cap, spark plug wires and the plugs themselves. A carburetor will soon be installed, and the brakes will all be re-done. Today I had taken off the rear bumper, hitch and disconnected the main gas tank to it can be cleaned and we can replace all of the fuel lines necessary. Theres quite a bit of work to be done but at the same time theres not a lot of work at all.[img][img][/img][/img]

What a great project and the knowledge you boys are gaining will benefit you for your entire life. It will also benefit your eventual family!!

BTW - do you know any back story on this ole girl?

Actually, we saw it on facebook and bought it sight unseen, and then my dads buddy who happens to be a police officer ran the vin for us and it came back as not stolen, but with the body we arent sure but it looks like it had to have been in a light roll over hence the missing fender, dented hood, fender skirt, and grill as well as no top, chopped windshield frame, and no window frames in the doors.

Wheels/Tires are from Kirk and BSD!
Making the loop this Sunday to hit Crawler creations for fender flares,
Then Picking up a fender from Terry D,
And then a buddy of BroncoJanes has a good pair of doors and hood we’re getting!

We’re going to try and straighten out the top corner of the grill and make that work but it should look like a Real Bronco in another week or so!

I've got one you are welcome to have. It does not have the sending unit on it but looks to be in good shape.

Got all of the steering hooked up, and ready for the power steering pump. Got the fan pulley and the one underneath it swapped for dual pulleys for power steering. Also got the power brake booster installed and just need the lines from the master cylinder down to the connection on the frame (forget what it's called). We put a different hood on as well which will hopefully get painted black eventually and got the windshield frame set in place which we'd like to get welded in here soon whether someone can do it for us or we can get a 220 outlet installed in the garage. Before we do our welding, I believe I'll try and drain the oil (as it smells like gas so we replaced the fuel pump as well) add belts, the power steering pump and radiator fluid (most likely just water for now) and hopefully see if she'll start!

Just got the 1" lift blocks installed in the back, I didn't snap any pics yet. You can't see mich of a difference other than the fact it leveled it out more than it was after lifting the front end 2.5" power steering pump should get here Monday and soon after that's done and a few other little loose ends, we'll see if she'll start!

If it's the stock block it's called an H-block. It was used to detect if there was an imbalance between the front and rear brakes. If there was, it would light the brake warning light.

Got a few things done, got the windshield frame welded kn as well as the uncut hood hinges so I got those put on, as well as a lower profile air filter to fit under the hood, got started with the oil change by draining it then adding 5qts of fresh oil, and then filled the radiator with antifreeze and water 50/50 mix. Wasn't as big of a deal as the rest but we put on a car cover to try and keep some of the rain and snow out. Got some help from my buddy Caden. Couple more things to fill with fluids and then a seat and might be able to fire it up!
