I picked this up today in Milliken. The guy bought it 8 years ago but never mounted it he said it came from a guy who was down by Chatfield. Anyone recognize it? |

That's a cool looking hood, I've never seen one like that before. Nice score! |

Well I screwed up somewhere and had to strip it all over again. I don't think I let the primer dry for long enough. |

I think that the original powder blue paint is the strongest substance known to man. That paint eats aircraft stripper and shits wire wheels. |

I thought about that, but I pressure washed it for 20 minutes. You could be right though so I'll use mineral spirits or something like that before painting. |

Rinsing the stripper with water should have been ok. I would expect stripper to maybe hide in the nooks, crannies, and seams and maybe show up there, but not in the middle of a rinsed panel. What kind of primer? Rattle can or spray gun? |

Rattle can. |

I'd guess it wasn't cured. I'd strip it all again, unfortunately. Mist some etch prime on the bare metal, & reprime. I wouldn't use a 'high build' or 'sandable' primer, just regular primer. One, maybe 2 coats. Then blast with color. We have had bad luck with rattle can high build/sandable primers at the shop. |

Looks better in primer. I did a lot more prep this time around and it came out nice. |

Coming along! I'm about 50 lbs of wire into my welding career and have only been getting really nice welds in the past year or so. Making a strong weld isn't super hard, but making a pretty one can be. |

I used duplicolor bed armor, but I sprayed it with a gun. I wire wheeled the whole thing first then washed with soap and water. It came out looking nice. |
