Someone was nice enough to stick a card with http://www.coloradoclassicbroncos.com on my Bronco's window while I was picking up some pizza, so I thought it only fair I stop in to introduce myself. I’m also going to ramble a little.
I’m originally from MN, just moved to the Broomfield area last Fall for work. My grandfather sparked my love for Fords early on and he owned 2 early Broncos when I was young. I will always remember heading to the lake house in one of the EB's. I’ve looked for affordable EB’s throughout the years, but I was either too poor or couldn’t find a good enough deal. Well, I’ve recently purchased a 1974 Bronco Ranger, the truck is the same age as me. Go figure. It was apparently a frame up rebuild in the last 10 years with a 351w with about 37,000 miles on it. It has a forest green exterior with a not so forest green original interior and engine bay. Disc brakes front and back. 4.56 gears with a 435 granny 1st gear. 3/4 or 1/2 ton truck leaf springs with James Duff 70/30 auto adjust shocks with progressive rate coil springs suspension. I believe it is a mere 2.5 inch lift. I need to change that so I can get 35’s underneath this EB. Current running some 33’s ATs… Heavy duty drive shaft. Double heavy duty roll bar. Big ugly custom rear bumper with tow package and trailer brake connection. Big ugly front bumper with 9000lb warn winch. The body is in good shape, no major rust anywhere on the truck. The paint job is a maaco job and has many blemishes, but nothing major. I believe there is a very small coolant leak at the timing cover, and some other wetness under the engine. No drops under the bronco though, zip. I’ll keep an eye on it though. The bronco runs good when it is warmed up. My friend called it bad ass and thought it sounded like a cammed race car. No idea on what engine work has been done on the 351w, may need some help figuring that out. The bronco didn’t have a lot of power at the top of the Vail summit, 10000ft? I was only able to maintain 50 MPH toward the top of the summit on 70, otherwise feels good at 65 at lower altitudes. May need a jet or a new EFI crate engine.
That’s about it. I plan on keeping this bronco the rest of my life so I plan on sinking money into it. Anyone know a good EB restore shop? Good EB mechanic? I plan on making this as pristine as my wallet will allow.
