Putting the Bronco to work (and play)

Putting the Bronco to work (and play)

Not quite BSD-level grind, but getting some utility out of my SUV.

First did a shake down run on the T33a Crash trail.

Then towed the camper to BV

Then spent a day running some light trails on the Miner's Loop near St. Elmo

Still some snow left

Reservoirs were all full

Got hit with snow and hail for 30 minutes outside TinCup...

...but blew off on the other side of Cumberland Pass

Later used the Bronco to haul equipment for a tree removal job.

I never want to return to the real world at the end of the trip.

That's awesome. How do you like the Cummins off road?

It's really good. Sips fuel and runs cool, even on hot days. I have yet to stall the engine. The idle has a tight control loop, I actually wish I could loosen it up a bit for wheeling. I'm use to the engine stalling when I bump into a big obstacle, but the Cummins just won't stop as you can see in the video.

This would be a great engine for expedition travel. Makes me want to build an off-road teardrop style camper.

Oh, that would be awesome behind a Bronco. Just watched OverlandUnderbudget do a camper for his Taco on Instagram and I'm sure you would give him a run for his money.

Agreed. I keep thinking about making one. I don't fit in the commercially available ones and they're $$$
