This is pretty cool even if it's a one off.

Detroit Free Press: Ford makes classic pickup electric in surprise one-of-a-kind F-Series truck reveal.

Did you see the link to the crate engine? The price isn’t outrageous, but you’d still need the battery pack and other bits to make it function. I know plenty of shops are electrifying older vehicles by using scavenged parts from wrecked E cars, but factory support is a cool option.

Yeah, the crate engine caught my eye. Gives me some hope that if a reasonable battery pack came along, you could do something like this to a Bronco. Would be cool other than you'd have to make your own engine noises. [emoji1787]

Awesome to see them release that crate motor. And cool to see other, smaller companies popping up with options.

Zero Labs has a full drivetrain/chassis platform for dropping your existing EB onto.
Electric GT has a conversion kit but it's insanely expensive. They want $65k just for the motor.

Hopefully more companies, including the major mfr's, entering the space will make these conversions much more affordable in the near future

I suspect 20 years from now electrification of classics will be the norm.

Agreed, the classic lines are too good to let go. Think of our current mods, a lot of us have moved from carbs to EFI and 3 speed auto/manual to 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual.

I’ll wager my boys will be electrifying their “classics” to keep them on the road in the future.

There's a good chance it will be the only way in order to drive them regularly. Either the cost of gas will be prohibitive or they simply won't be allowed at some point. More likely the former. I will have my dad's 49 Chevy 5 window truck at some point and I doubt my kids will be able to drive it regularly when they get it from me.

Test drove a hybrid F150 last weekend. Have to say, rolling around on just the electric was dreamily quiet. I like the noise from my bronco, but wouldn't mind that in a daily. In other news, I'm apparently old.
