Well, I am happy to say it fired tonight. Just sprayed some carb cleaner in so it didn't run for long, but it did start.
This was just the relief we needed. This project started about a year ago. We bought the EFI motor complete with harness, only 68K miles. We bought a complete gasket set, switched pans, cleaned painted, regasketed, cleaned FI, new clutch, PP, throwout bearing the works. Got it in and everything ready to go. Had a friend over and was turning over the engine to prime the oil pump when he asked if i knew the lower pulley was bent. After a thorough investigation the pulley was not bent.......the crank was! Flat out diasappointment. Why did I even get this hair brained idea of swapping in the EFI? I could have replaced the timing chain on the old motor and had this thing back running months ago!
Anyone that has done this swap knows at this point i was to far to turn back, harness installed and all the other little things. Plus i still needed a motor.
So out came the motor again. Found a crank, had it polished. Reinstalled with all new bearings. Went ahead and put in a new oil pump this time. Put everything back together. Back in the Bronco, read every book and forum to get the wiring figured out......and it fired. it is a good night. 3 weeks until he gets his license, so still a lot to do to get it done.
