Best. Wife. Ever.

Best. Wife. Ever.

Postby Justin » Sat Dec 25, 2010 3:41 pm

Merry Christmas to me (and all of you out there in Bronco-Land)! Check out what turned up in my driveway this morning. Not the kid, we already had him. This is the Bronco that has been for sale out in Lochbuie and I had no idea that my wife had bought it for me. The guy cut us a decent deal as I had my son with me the day I went to look at it. Turns out he had built it with his dad, so he was pretty happy about my plans to get my son out in the garage with me. It sits on 35s with about 5" of total lift and has ARB lockers front and rear. Should be fun, and I'm looking forward to bringing it out to a club event soon!

You have a great wife there. But then I think we all do for their patience with our addiction.

I too have a Bronco out front, counted as a birthday and Christmas present. How will they ever top it next year? LOL

That is really wild. Your truck is way close to mine. What tire size and lift are you running? The story on my truck isn't as interesting as some others I've heard. I saw the ad for it on Craigslist and Lochbuie isn't very far from where I live, so I went to take a look at it. I really liked at the time, but couldn't put the money together. That changed about 2 months later. I'd had contact with the owner and knew it was still for sale. When it came up on Craigslist again a few weeks ago my wife and I had some um, debate, about buying it and it didn't happen again. That day my wife contacted the seller and set up the purchase, got it insured, etc. We spent the night at her parent's house on christmas eve and the seller dropped it in our driveway on Christmas morning so it was sitting there with a bow on it when we got home Christmas day. I won't repeat all of what I said, but it was 2 words and started with "HOLY!". Good Christmas. Thanks wife!

That is an awesome story! So happy it worked out.

My Bronco came with 35's, 5.5" Lift, and 2" Body lift. I have traded the black rims and 35" tires for Chrome 33's, kept the 5.5" Suspenstion, and removed the Body lift. I am hoping that will make it easier to get my family in and out lol.

I'm on 35's. The front had (according to the PO) 6" lift front springs and 3.5" rears with a 2" body lift. The front bumper is pretty heavy, so the front and rear are mostly level. I'm thinking a winch should finish the job. My current plan is to keep the 35's, do some additional fender trimming and new flares, then pull out the body lift. Not sure I'll have enough clearance, but I'm pretty happy to just keep removing sheet metal until it works. I may swap out the front springs for shorter ones and go to 33's like you did depending on how streetable it is once I get some steering work done. I really want to be able to do 70 on the freeway and not have it be a scary experience.

70 on the freeway is a must and hoping that some of the mods I am making will help. I have enough suspension lift that I may keep my uncut rear fenders I am installing soon, painting it white, and running doors so our trucks looking like twins is short lived. It is crazy how many similarities. It looks like you found a great Bronco and what a bonus that it was close and it all worked out.

Thanks, all. I'm pretty stoked. I was already a big fan of the wife, and this didn't hurt that any.
