Match the rpms to the bpm and you won't notice! Ha!

That is a strange one! Does the radio manf. have any input?

All of their engineers are at a loss and claim to have never heard nor seen this before.

Short story is I only have issue on Bluetooth and/or SD card playback of music. The music play back skips with ignition cycles. The FM radio works great. I have bench tested everything and it works fine. It has nothing to do with the wiring to the stereo. I took a spare battery and placed it on the floor. Hooked just the stereo to it and added computer speakers to the head unit. That left me with the stereo physically in the bronco(not mounted just resting) but completely isolated from the bronco power/wiring and still had an issue.

This is a video of what is happening.

That sounds like you have done a good job with the diagnostics.
Short story is I only have issue on Bluetooth and/or SD card playback of music.
I think that statement is telling of the problem. Those are digital modes vs FM which would like be analog circuitry and therefore more noise resistant. (this is why FPV drone fliers still use analog signals) I hate to say it, but the problem probably lies in the circuit design of the unit. If the engineers knew this or even suspected it, I doubt they are at liberty to tell you. Noise could be coming from any external wire, because they act as antennas even when not connected to the truck, or something on the circuit board, like a long trace, is acting like an antenna. Things could be cleared up with more shielding and internal noise controls, but that that is beyond the end-user.

Best you could do is carefully shield the entire head unit and run shielded and twisted pair wires everywhere. But if the noise is coming in on the FM antenna, there is nothing that can be done about that.

One other thing you could try is transferring the head unit to another gas-powered vehicle (no diesel), wiring it up with a battery and computer speakers and see if the problem reoccurs. If not, then you should focus on suppressing the noise the Bronco is creating. If the noise persists, return the head unit and buy a different one.

I got some copper sheets and tape from work to build a shield box around the stereo. That didn't do anything. But what I did find is if I hold the stereo out of the tuffy console and not let it touch any metal 95% of the issue goes away.

Did it yesterday but cleaned the rear diff to try and determine if my pinion seal was leaking and found that a few of the nuts for the pumpkin were loose. Tightened them up and no more leak. Added some fluid to top it off and drove it in a birthday parade today and still no leak. Super stoked about fixing this one.

Cleaned and painted the ZF. Too bad it won't go in for quite awhile. I need to change out the axle gears before I can do it. Figure it will be winter when I do so getting it painted while it was warm seemed like a good idea. ImageImage

Drove it to work today after a few weeks of putting in a new radiator, trans cooler, and power steering cooler.

I installed the Bronco hut HD radiator. That required lowering the lower mounts. And as we all know the core support is very flimsy. I ended up building a brace that bolted into the core support and added a lot of strength. The HD radiator is about 3" taller. and a bit thicker. I had to cut and widen the 4 core saddle mounts. Locating a fan shroud that was taller was difficult. I found that the TBP 1-2" body lift metal fan shroud they sell is the correct height. But the fan hole is a bit large. I had to add to the shroud to shrink down the opening size. I will have to pull the fan and shroud back out for some more work in the near future as its not deep enough.

Bet that feels nice!!

Mine is in storage where it will likely live for the next two years. There is a club here offering some trail riding for fathers day, but I am afraid I won't have time to give it a good once-over before then so I'll have to wait for the next run. I am tempted to find a nice selectable rear locker as I think I'd drive it on the street a bit more if the rear were open.

Replaced the alternator. I’ve been chasing a “dying” battery for a while now. Seems I would charge it, drive a few places, Bronco would sit for a couple weeks and the battery would be drained when I go to start it again.

The last few days I’ve been driving it a bit around town and I’m actually shocked it didn’t die sooner. Noticed today that the volts were at 11.1 on my way home from picking up some hard to find Eagle Rare bourbon.

I took it in to Oreilly and they tested it, and it failed immediately. So in goes the new one with a lifetime warranty.

Is your winch wired to side posts on battery by chance ?

I recently read that they changed how batteries with side posts are built and that side posts shouldn’t be used for heavy draw accessories as it ruins the battery

No- my battery doesn’t have side posts. Can you forward me that article though? I’ve also been having all sorts of charging issues with my popup camper battery and everything is hooked to the side posts on that and now I’m wondering if that could be my issue?

I've resorted to disconnecting the negative side of the battery for my bronco while it's in storage. Even 2 weeks is plenty of time for a parasitic drain to kill a battery.

Got any specs? Are the spot & driving combo's or did you run some dedicated spots and some driving?

Well from what i can gather the center 2 are spot and the other 4 are combo spot flood however I picked them up from another Bronco Racer 2nd hand and they are old stock Rigid R46's so not quite sure. We aren't moving at trophy truck speed so not too concerned with how far out front they throw light - anything will be helpful to uncover the holes and to keep our speed up at night. Hopefully they work - I haven't even tested them yet lol...

as a side note i made this to be removable as I probably wont run it during the day and make it easy to mount at a pit before it gets dark -

It's been a while, but I finally get to post something!!!!!!!

The old gas in the Broncos was stinking up the new shop so bad I had to drain the tanks.

There wasn't much in the 74.

The 72 hasn't been run in probably 10+ years. The aux tank was almost empty, but there was probably 3-4 gallons in the main tank.

This is what came out:

Google "Hazardous Materials Recycling" or "Disposal" most the communities have drop offs available. I have to schedule it at my local transfer station.

I'd say use it as weed killer, but my girlfriend works for the state Department of Environmental Protection in drinking water division. LOL.
