Recovery Class

Recovery Class

Postby ScottBarnes » Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:44 am

Hi everyone -

This past Saturday, I participated in an "Intro to Recovery" class that was taught by Matt Balazs with ontrailtraining.com. Everyone in the class was a member of the CO 4x4 Rescue and Recovery club. It was a really great way to spend a Saturday, and provided info that will definitely benefit us out on the trail.

I spoke with Matt, and he can do a customized course for us if we have enough interest. He can teach recovery (intro and advanced), trail repair, driving skills, overlanding, etc. I would probably recommend we stick to the recovery stuff. Matt is a great teacher and extremely knowledgable. He's one of a handful of certified trainers in the country from The International 4 Wheel Drive Trainers Association.

If we had 10 people that would be willing to pay $75 each, I'll cover the additional portion of the fee. We can hold it on my property in Franktown, and I will also provide lunch (burgers, dogs, etc). If there is enough REAL interest, we can choose a date this summer and get it planned. Please respond if you are seriously interested (enough to spend a day and $75).

See ya -- Scott

A friend of ours is a certified master trainer with I4WDTA and the training and information that the teach is good stuff. This is very nice of you to provide this opportunity for club members and worth every penny. Thanks Scott.

I’m definitely interested. Unfortunately Sundays aren’t great for me so I’d be in if it were on a Saturday.

OK Guys -- based on these responses, I think we can get 10!

I spoke with Matt and looks like Saturday, June 8 would be a good option. If there is a reason that you CAN'T make a June 8 class in Franktown, please respond ASAP. Getting a date that works for everyone is the hardest part. If June 8 doesn't work, we will need to push to a July date (also a Saturday, because his Sunday's are mostly booked).

Once I get some confirmations here, I'll open it up to a couple of the Facebook groups, but I want to make sure all the CCB folks get first shot. Thanks -- Scott

This is great — I’ve confirmed the 8th with Matt so put it on your calendars. I’m going to start another thread in the Staging Area with the date/time, location, etc. Should be a fun day — Scott

Plenty of room for everyone! Honestly, if we get more than 13 paid then I'll start refunding money. That's the "break even point"..
