Insurance

Postby eedstrom » Mon May 13, 2019 2:42 pm

I am a new '73 Bronco owner and excited to be part of this club!
What is everyone doing with regards to insuring their rigs?
I am getting absolutely buried by auto insurance with two teenage girls and called to add my Bronco to the policy. SafeCo wants $800+ a year for "classic" car insurance that allows way too limited driving and specifically no off roading. That doesn't work!
Grundy and Hagerty seem to have similar restrictions.
If I want to insure it as a "regular car" with an agreed to value of $25K the price skyrockets.

I have an agreed value policy with Hagerty. There is no mileage restriction. I also don’t wheel it so I’m not sure what that would do to the policy, but it is quite a bit cheaper than what it cost me to have it on our Amica policy for our “regular cars.”

My last Bronco was covered with Hagerty and it was a stated policy. $25,000 coverage no questions asked, (basically,) two pictures and $350 total for the year and I was good.

The way I see it, for $350 a year - it covers your rig, stolen vehicle reimbursement, and if you get into a wreck with another person. If you Wreck it 4wheeling then that should come out of your pocket anyway!

Thank you for finding that. My Chrome is giving me trouble!!

Lots of info there to get quotes. I am with American Collectors now with a stated value policy.

My 76 is with Grundy for stated value of $65K @ about $400 a year
My 69 and 72 are with Travelers Insurance for agreed value according to book value which keeps increasing AND what invoices you have from the aftermarket stuff is on it

I have American Family. It costs about 20 bucks a month, I know my policy is based off of how many miles I drive a year. I have only put 2500 miles the last 7 years so... The value is based off of the average selling price of a 1974 Bronco. I believe as of right now that's about 27000.

I’ve got both of mine covered as part of my State Farm policy. They are handled like all my other cars, so no restrictions. I did get a stated value on them, so I needed to submit a few photos. I think my full coverage is in the $300 a year range for each. A good agent makes all the difference.

Those of you who have stated value policies should change to agreed value policies.

In the fine print on stated value policies there is wording that allows the insurance company to pay you less than the stated value amount.

Agreed value is exactly that, there is no way for them to pay less.
