Harbor Freight generator
We picked up a toy hauler pop up camper a little bit ago. Need to get a generator for it. It has an AC unit. Keep hoping to find a Honda eu2200 but they are hard to find used and people want new money for them.
Started looking around at other options and the Predator 3500 seems to get good reviews and is only $700. Curious if anyone here has run one? Trying to determine if it's decent enough to take the risk on (assuming I'll get the 2 year extended warranty).
Harbor Freight has improved their quality over the past few years but given this is a big ticket item, I'm doing my research.
Thanks!

Re: Harbor Freight generator
Is that a rooftop A/C unit or a window style?
I don't think the HF gennies are that bad, but like any 3600 rpm air-cooled, they are going to be loud and suck gas like a '76 Cadillac. Just my opinion, but unless you need the A/C, maybe save some cash and keep shopping for a Honda. You'll get more bang for your buck in fuel savings and sanity.

Re: Harbor Freight generator
I agree on the noise. I use the Honda and it’s much more quiet than any generator I’ve been around. Maybe go see if they will Fire one up at the store so you can hear it run. Last thing you want when your up in the peaceful quiet of nature is a Buzzsaw genny killing the vibe.

Re: Harbor Freight generator
Thanks. This is the inverter style so it's rated at 57db. I expect it will be slightly louder than the Honda but doubt it will be like a chainsaw.
Our camper has the rooftop AC. I would need at least a 2200 with an easy start to run the AC. The 3500 would run it no problem.
Really only worried about the longevity overall. CR gave it a high rating and said it produced very clean power.

Re: Harbor Freight generator
Just an update. Pulled the trigger on the Predator. Took it camping this weekend. My buddy has the Honda 2200. The Predator was significantly quieter with similar loads. Now the question is longevity. I bought the 2 year warranty on it and was out the door for $850. Just in case any one was curious. The Predator is larger and therefore heavier by 2x but it provides more power.

Re: Harbor Freight generator
When you first mentioned 3500 watt Predator, I thought you meant this one: Yeah, the reviews on the 3500 watt inverter genny have been pretty good. The Honda version is also more quiet than the EU2200/EU2000, it just comes with a weight penalty. I'll be interested to hear your experiences.
