I've got the new alarm installed and it's working great so far. The one hiccup I hit was with the starter kill install. I've hooked it up as I believe it should be...per the instructions but I am still able to start it when the alarm is enabled.

To disable the ignition switch to starter wire, I've cut the Red/Blue wire off the back of the ignition switch. It connects from the switch to the starter solenoid "S" pole from what I can tell....

I spliced in the 2 wires from the alarm's starter kill relay...one goes on the solenoid side, the other on the switch side. I am able to start the Bronco regardless of if the alarm is enabled or not. When I pull the starter kill relay off the alarm harness, I am unable to start it. These tells me that I should have the correct wire (Red/Blue).

Maybe the starter kill relay is bad that came with the alarm?

(For Viper: I know that the starter kill is a lame way to disable the engine, but coupled with the blaring alarm, I'm fine with it for now.)

Could be a bad relay or the relay is wired wrong or could be a jumper setting on the alarm system.

One click is all it takes to change the state of the relay. Could be faulty logic in the controller. Call the manufacturer.

I prefer the starter kill technique of leaving the key in the run position for two weeks until the resistor wire burns out. A little time consuming with the dash removal and rewiring, but effective.

When/if I ever get around to turning wrenches on the Bronco again (18 years from now, at the best estimate), I was thinking about an RFID system, similar to the keyless entry/start systems in newer cars.

Excellent. Let me know if you want some help with that. I have a guy that works for me who is scary with electronics. Like REALLY scary. He won't be back in town until tomorrow and his wife is coming over from Germany next week, but I think this is something he'd really dig. He's working on a similar set up for his Mustang, but with GSM/Cell technology built in as well.

There are 5.....it's the 30/40a. It was all pre-wired with the alarm.

Yep...and I split it right inside the firewall....interior. The ignition is dead is if I pull the relay. This is a pretty popular Python alarm....hard to think there is a problem with the logic.

I imagine I could split the wire in the engine compartment near the starter relay. At least then I would know for sure.

Just to be sure....the pole on the back of the ignition switch is switched 12v correct? Per the instructions for one of the wires:

"Connect this wire to the (+) 12 volts ignition wire. This wire is pre-wired to the starter kill relay and must show (+) 12 volts with the key in the run position and during cranking."

I checked the pole with a meter and it is indeed off when not in either of these positions.
