how long to wait after priming

 how long to wait after priming I'm primimg some body parts and its 5star 5403 black primer. The. Can say wet sand in 30 min. I was going to wait for 3 hours cure time? before color coat

Re: how long to wait after priming Follow the instructions provided w/the primer.
The longer you let it set before sanding, the better. As the primer cures & drys, it shrinks. If you sand it too soon, the primer will continue to dry & shrink after you sand it. If the primer shrinks after wet sanding, the sand scratches (in mud/filler/old paint) under the primer, will be visible in the color coat. Dark & metallic colors are more likely to show sand scratches than light/white colors.
Our primer recommended 8 hrs minimum cure time before sanding, but if we had a "special" car we would let it sit a day or two before wet sanding.

Re: how long to wait after priming I'm sure the instructions are good, there are many different types of primer. Each brand/type has its own chemical make up. Wait at least 30 minutes. The longer the better.
