Whistling Pines might be what you are thinking of. But if you think $8 a pop for Dragonman's is a bit rough, you're definitely not interested in WP. It's pretty much the Broadmoor of shooting ranges around here.
I usually suck up the Dragonman fee. I used to take the wife up to Rampart to shoot, but that got old quickly. I don't like to have to keep a loaded piece on me at all times WHILE AT THE RANGE. There are some very sketchy people who would frequent that area before they closed it.
