Tonight's "storm of the century" finally motivated me to get off my dead ass and call my insurance company about adding the '72. I have a 30 day grace period to add it after purchase, during which time it is still covered. But, I figured with the idiots out driving in my neighborhood, it would be good to get it on the policy before some jackass slid in to it tonight. Based on some stuff I have been reading in threads over the last month or so (Dan's appraisal and a CB.com thread about a recent accident), I asked a few key questions of my insurance company (USAA) and was surprised by what I learned. USAA only deals with Actual Cash Value policies. They've estimated the original purchase price as 5000.00, and if the truck is totaled I will receive that much, minus depreciation. (Seeing as it's a 1972, I'd expect a check for about 50 bucks.) Now I'm looking for a new insurance company, to specifically insure the '72, on a Stated Value policy. So, who is everyone using for insurance? Are you on an Actual Cash Value policy or Stated Value policy? What did your insurance company require as documentation, if you have a Stated Value policy? |

I am on an actual cash value plan right now with Allstate...simply for liability, not replacement. Now that I have quite a bit of $ in it, I called and they will create a new policy for the Bronco. I basically tell them what I want if it's totaled and they create the policy around that. I don't know what the pricing is yet. |

I have my policies with Allstate................stated value on the EB was totally acceptable to them |

Did either company require any type of documentation to support your claims of value? Going full coverage for me was a price difference of 39.00/6 months over liability. Kind of a no brainer for me. Weird thing is the '72 would have cost 103.00/6 months for liability where the '69 costs me 109.00/6months for liability. WTH? |

My insurance company has not required documentation (Encompass). They may request an appraisal if I want to raise the amount by too much. |

State Farm used Blue Book Value to get a baseline. We used $6500 as an amount. |

I started mine out at 7,500 and recently raised it to 12,50 without any need for documentation |
