My doors have always shut hard, especially when it's cold out. Lately the window regulator roller keeps popping off when slams the passenger door harder than necessary. I imagine I could solve this by adjusting the doors but curious if there are any tricks to getting the roller stay in place ? The rollers and little clips are new and seem to be installed correctly but those little clips don't seem very strong. |

The roller doesn't come out of the track..........sorry I didn't explain it correctly The pin on the regulator arm, the pin that goes into the roller, it pops out of the roller when the door is slammed |

One of those stupid rollers always comes loose when 4 wheeling. I once got to drive home from yankee hill in January with the driver's window down. I've had some luck pulling the metal clip out of the roller, squeezing it tighter and reinstalling. Doesn't fix it totally, but it helps some. |

I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about this damned thing............ Maybe there is too much old stiff grease in the slot on the pin where the little spring clip clips into, preventing it from going deep enough into the slot ? Maybe some baling wire around the ends of the spring clip would keep it from releasing when slammed ? |

I was going to suggest abandoning the clips and using bailing wire instead. Yesterday, I noticed that is how the 3 speed shift rods were retained to my friend's 66 trans. But I didn't want to come off too ghetto. |

That's not a bad idea. I might have to try it. Seems like doing a few laps around the roller with some safety wire could work really well. |

Jeffro, I think you can safety the existing clips so they wont "expand" after install. I have some stainless .032 and a small set of safety pliers is you want to give that a whirl.... or bring it by, I have LOTS of practice with that stuff... |

Can you try adjusting the window tracks so they are closer to the regulator arm? |
