Axle Prices D44/D60
I have an opportunity to pick up a D44 front and D60 rear with 4.10 gears from a 79 F250 and wanted to know what I should be looking to pay for these. I plan to use the front to possibly convert a HP D44 to 8 lug and then run the D60 on the rear.

Not sure on the rear. The Dana 60 rear is relatively common. I wouldn't spend more than $100 on that front unless it's really convenient.

That what I was think on the front, I really have no idea on the rear either.

Re: Axle Prices D44/D60
The rear D60 is just about worthless. It's only value is as a boat anchor, and an unwieldy one at that.
If you want to go 8 lug on the front, put a Sterling in the back. 35 spline from the factory, more HD than the D60, about the same dimensions/weight as the D60 and you can get one with 4.10 gears and a stock locker for $150 or so. AND..... no case break for lockers, so if it fits 3.50 gears, it fits 5.13 gears.
If you do decide you want to pick them up, I can use the remainder of the 4.10 geared RC D44. I'd trade you a Sterling w/4L10 gears... Joe

Re: Axle Prices D44/D60
The axles ended up actually being a low pinion, closed knuckle 44 and a D60, wish people would be truthful. I was really only considering the swap because I have seen others that have done it, anyway back to the original plan. I have a full width HP D44 and 9" from a '76 F150 and I picked up another HP D44 from a '77 F150 with drilled and slotted disks, plan is to rebuild them and get them under the Bronco.
