Post subject: | transmission and transfer case questions |
When I installed the transmission and transfer case the cross member bolts were broken off or stripped out. With that said I Pulled a Stupid and had the cross member welded in. Now the original 3 speed is giving me problems so I have a few questions before I jump in head first. Will be switching it out the 3 speed for a NP435 and D20 T- shift transfer case. Was going to order thru TBP or JBG. Any thoughts about what rebuild kit I should get ? Also how would I go about the cross member cut out the bolts and have a new piece welded in or maybe try going to a bigger bolt and re-tap the holes ? Those were the only things I can think of. Need lots of ideas besides rolling it down the hill. HAHAHA |

If you only welded the angle brackets to the frame and not the cross member to the angle brackets it's not a big deal. The 435 is very close to the length of a stock 3 speed so the angle brackets won't need to move. If you want to fix the holes for the angle brackets I would use nutserts. |

nutserts or you can drill out and weld flange nuts in with the flange as your weld area against the frame (make sense?). |

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. I only had the angle brackets welded on. So I might not have screwed up as bad as I thought. Never heard of a nutserts but I do understand what your saying. |
