How to extract a snapped bolt from the threaded end

Postby laffycaffi » Sun Jun 20, 2021 6:55 pm

So here’s a new one. Bolt snapped. But on the other end I have a nugget of hope. Is there a way to extract this?

Is that on the timing cover? Trying to figure out which way it needs to go. I'm assuming the part sticking out is on the back side?

That bolt is going to have a shoulder on it so you can't extract it out from the back. You could use the exposed end of the bolt to weld a nut to in order to break the bolt loose. You would then need to cut the exposed end and nut off then extract the bolt from the front.

Update: I sprayed with PBlaster and I can't believe it but wit a vice grip, I somehow managed to back it out. Disaster averted!!!
