Intake gaskets

Postby akaFrankCastle » Thu Dec 02, 2010 10:53 pm

Replacing the gaskets on my intake tonight. "Sealer" I bought says "never hardens". Does this mean I don't have to leave the truck sitting over night while the sealer cures? Seems like an obvious answer, but I really don't want to do this twice.

What kind of sealant is it?

Right Stuff works great for intake end seals and a light film around the water ports.

Permatex High Tack w/ Felpro gaskets.

When I was putting the 302 together this summer, I came across this video. It's exactly what I followed. No sealer, nothing but a little spray glue to hold things in place during assembly. So far I'm happy

Wish my PO had watched that video. He used nothing but silicone. Two of the coolant passages looked like the arteries of a man who had eaten nothing but deep fried foods for his entire life. They were seriously close to 50% blocked.
