Rear Leaf Springs

Postby rt9 » Sun Sep 18, 2016 8:42 am

Hi everyone. Probably a stupid question, but, is there a "front" & "back" to install rear leaf springs? I notice the clamp arrangements are different on the ends. These are stock springs.

I believe they can only go in one way though. There is an alignment pin that holds them in place where the U bolt lines up.

The way I put them on, the front clamp covers 4 leaves and the rear clamp is on 3.

Can someone with stock springs verify this?

It does ride really nice now.[SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

I checked my 66 but the clamps hold 3 leafs on front & rear of the axle. So they must be a different leaf pack. I6vsV8 or GVWR rating?

Yep, probably correct. I think I found the info I needed on the national site. The front mount has the wrap going into the middle of the OD and the rear mount has the spring basically tangent to the OD.
