I've been kicking around an idea for the past few years. I am thinking about putting a Ford Lightning engine into an EB. Any thoughts e.g. too much horse power, torque issues, etc?

They were such limited edition vehicles that they are very hard to come by but if you can find one - they would be awesome.

What kind of mileage do you get on that stick pony?

So anyway, I am assuming that you are talking about dropping a Lightning 351W into it. Your are looking at 240hp and 340ftlbs torque on a fresh engine. Question is, will your drive train handle it?

Yes, about what I figured, but concerned that the RPM would be too high and not a good combo for wheelin'. I know the 9 inch would have no problem with the H.P. they're used all the time in strip racers and I don't think a Dana 20 would out a bunch of gears but I just don't know about the combo in general. I guess either way it would be an easy reverse back.

I think you'd be fine. As long as you weren't planning on doing s all day, everyday. You'd have to make sure your drivetrain was in tip-top shape. I don't know what my 351 (stock from a '94 F-250 with roller rockers, GT heads etc.) is rated for, but I think it's close to that 240HP.
