Injector Rebuild

Postby TOOLMAN » Wed Dec 10, 2014 12:09 pm

Any of you fellas have information or a link as to where to purchase the injector rebuild kits? I've seen a few online and was wondering which place was the best to deal with.

Thanks!

PM Gregg, he has rebuilt several sets of injectors. I don't know where he gets his rebuild kits.

Bought a kit from here http://www.mrinjector.us/ find your injectors or all and tell them what you have, think it was $30 for the kit.... i used carb cleaner initially to soak them and then blew them out with a compressor... they come with great directions.

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.

I have been eyeing the Mr. Injector site. There's also a guy on ebay that sells rebuild kits (for about $12 cheaper), but can't seem to find the correct ones.

I bought a couple kits from RJM Injection for $20 each. The first kit was sent fine but the second kit took some calling, e-mailing, and searching before it finally arrived at my door. Looks like they've been having some customer service problems lately so it may not be a safe bet. However, the product was good.
Mike made a cool clip system that opens the injector with a 9V battery. It makes it easier to flush out the injector with a compressor. All you need is a 9V battery, solder, and a pair of nipple clamps.
Definition of cool.

I didn't yet. I'm leaning toward using Mr. Injector.

While I have mine apart, I have considered getting them rebuilt. I was leaning towards sending them in so that they can be utlrasonic'd and cleaned. Any opinions on rebuilding them yourself vs. just sending them in?

same here, did it myself. I used a battery to open the injectors and blow them out after soaking them. Just made little connector contraption to make it easy to hook them up the battery and use the compressor.

Quick bump on this thread. Which rebuild kit do the 17lb injectors in the '99 Explorer take? Bosch EV14?

Not sure Justin. Eck and I went in together to get two sets to get the cost down and he ordered them. Maybe he will pipe in. I think we got the orange ones which if I remember are #19. I think you're looking for the beige ones and I do believe they are Bosch. You're going return-less, correct?

I ordered Toolman's and I's from a guy off eBay. There are all sorts of these things on there. If you're looking to rebuild yours, I found this on there: http://m.ebay.com/itm/V8-Ford-5-0-Fuel- ... Ciid%253A9

You could probably email the seller to confirm fitment.

I shot Mr. Injector an email to confirm fitment. Here's the response:

Thanks for your interest in our products. Here is a link to the kit for your application: http://www.mrinjectorparts.com/store/p1 ... s_002.html

Our kits come with the standard universal Bosch caps. If you would like the OEM cone style caps that come on your injectors write "supply cone OEM caps" in the notes to seller at check out and I'll supply both at no extra charge. Bill

"No extra charge" sounds like the right price! May be unnecessary but I'd be tempted to buy a small, cheap ultrasonic cleaner off eBay to run each injector through as well to clean everything up nice.

I have the small one and it works good. We also use the big one to clean brass before reloading. Only thing is they automatically time out at 2 minutes. So you have to keep pushing the button until they are clean.

Disassembling, then a good soak in a carb / EFI cleaner or ultrasonic bath, followed by 9 volt battery & compressed air.
