No, I said it would work with the correct upper u-joint to replace the rag joint. It just wouldn't bolt in. The rag joint flange is splined to the shaft on the lower but I'm not sure what it is. Your upper shaft is also splined under the flange (I think it's 3/4" 30 spline). You can get a u-joint with just about any combination of sizes and splines.

I guess I'm just really confused. Is the rag joint at the top of the 76 lower shaft not the same as the rag joint on the bottom of the 75 upper shaft? Both lower shafts will connect to the steering box but obviously if you remove the rag joints in favor of a u joint at the upper/lower connection, you would also need the pieces to install to each shaft in order to use the u joint correct? I called WH last week and they acted like they have nothing to sell me that would connect a 76 lower to a 75 upper. Any clarification or links that better explains this would be helpful. Sorry- I'm just clearly missing something here...
