WH Clydesdale Steering

Postby ScottBarnes » Sat Nov 18, 2017 2:41 pm

Looks like I might have a slightly bent Tie Rod (guess it's officially called a drag link), so looking at options. I like keeping it stock, and definitely don't want to do anything with heims, but was looking at the Wild Horses Clydesdale setup as a potential. Sort of pricey, but looks like it could handle my style of off roading way better. Any experience here with this setup?

Those are so beefy you could probably race Baja with them.

Most of us are running GE one ton components from ruff stuff
1977 Sport, 351w OBDII EFI motor, 4R70W auto, 4:88 gears, ARB lockers, 3.5" suspension, 33" tires.

it’s definitely race capable. I don’t want to ream anything, so I’m either going to do this Clydesdale setup or go with their 3 point adjustable, which is an improvement over stock, but pretty much keeps stock engineering and allows replacing TRE’s on all ends. I’m leaning to the 3 pt adjustable at the moment, but I’m not opposed to significant overkill [emoji23][emoji23]. Will probably order “whatever” next week.

If you don't want to get into the reaming and other mods (track bar riser) to go with a tie rod over setup just stick with the adjustable linkage. If you decide to do a tie rod over, you can do it a lot cheaper with Ruffstuff 1 ton parts.

OK -- Although I should probably do a TR over, I definitely don't want to ream the pitman and knuckles so I'm going to just go with the stock design 3 point Adjustable setup from WH. It's tempting, but I just can't justify the additional $350 for the Clydesdale stuff.

I have a reamer floating around the club somewhere. Think Justin still has it.
