New interior rear quarters.

Postby B.O.B. » Wed Aug 05, 2020 1:47 pm

So I made some new interior rear quarters. It’s out of wood and I am looking to make them last awhile. I would also like to cover them with some kind of carpet. What would work well and not fade? Plus where would be a good place to purchase? Figure some kind of water craft upholstery or something. Plus how should I treat the wood if at all.

Thx
Bobby

I sprayed mine with Raptor liner to match my interior. I’d guess that you could paint them with exterior paint to protect the wood and then find some sort of outdoor carpet that is fade resistant like Sunbrella brand.

The Wood will look amazing, but I suggest a solid color for your carpet!

I'm in the process of making a headliner for the safari top, Joann's fabric store had some boat material check out there web site or call for colors available. I wasn't planning of protecting the wood but now that you said that I'm probably going to use a quart oil base rustoleum from HD on the back side.

If I ever run into the PO I'll pass the compliment along. You don't happen to have the correct parchment rubber floor mat? I'll gladly trade ya. LOL.

I'll keep you in mind if I decide to sell. But don't hold your breath. It still hurts a little every time Kinder update's his 66 build thread.

I haven't forgotten about you. I just told my girlfriend that a CCB member wanted the carpet. She didn't really believe me, now I have proof!

When it comes out, you'll be the first to know. I think it's perfect for your ride!

I saw you trying to buy one on a Facebook post. I'll be first in line when the new ones are introduced by Dennis Carpenter. Unless one is hiding under my awesome carpet. I doubt it but one can hope.

I think you are smart in treating the wood prior to installation. Any good deck treatment should work I would think. A few coats wouldn't hurt.
