Just from the VIN, half cab, built September 1965, 170 I6, Michigan truck. Should be a Budd tub with an eyebrow grill & the driver's fresh air box should be metal, not plastic.

There is more info at Broncohio your VIN tag should have axle, color, DSO code, etc. Click on the 1966 tab at the bottom of this page.

http://www.broncohio.com/tech/ebvins.html

Post up some pics! I'm always interested in seeing the hood braces and rear view mirrors. They used so many it's always cool to see what trucks have and don't.

LOL.

I'm having fun. But I'm also enjoying stripping my Centech harness down to basics, and removing all the excess wire.

Thanks for the pic. The fact that so many have been highly modified will help the old stock ones stand out one day. I've completely cut up & modified a 74, so I've done it too.

I'll have to look at my wheels and see where that K\H stamp is. Ever since the 66's have become so popular, the "experts". Have come out of the woodwork over on CB! I like your logic about the 66 hubcap markings on your wheels. My 66 has been bastardized so much over the years it's hard to say what's original and what's not.

That mirror looks like it has the optional integrated drive-in movie theatre speaker

Now, is the paint on that beauty original ?!

I'd bet your bronco it's not original paint.

I thought the mirror looked like a clutch pedal turned mirror.

Crazy mirror, huh? This truck is really cool and about 95% stock, but has some unanswered questions. The mirror is definitely part of that 5%!

Unfortunately, not original paint. It's actually a pretty crappy paint job that will eventually need to be re-done. Right now, I'm just going to make sure it's road worthy and drive the piss out of it!

Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a while. It's not a mirror I'm familiar with. But that doesn't mean much. Because Ford was putting multiple mirrors on Broncos and many came without a mirror, it's so hard to tell.

I'm going to try to find your hood thread on CB.com. I think my hood was changed along the way.

I've talked to Steve a bunch in the last 6 months. Some about buying Big Sky and bringing it to Gunnison. He's a very nice guy.

Love your rig's new shoes. Looks so wrong, but so right! I'm definitely going that direction with my 66 when it's restored.

The vacuum wiper motor on mine are pictured here. I was told by someone that a '66 wiper motor had a manual lever like the one in the other picture. Is that correct?? if so, I guess my wiper motors have been changes?

Yes, I believe that is true. Mine were changed to electric. I picked up some vac wipers for mine, but I don't think they are 66 specific either.

My first addition to the wiki, credit goes to Colby for the discovery, since acquiring Gunni. Early ‘66 exhaust manifolds seems to have been sourced from 1965 Econolines. Two recent examples from Colby’s and mine show the same casting.
