EFI ?

Postby B.O.B. » Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:21 pm

Almost done doing the conversion just trying to figure out how to run the hoses to the heater core and back and have the stock heat control knob work. Any suggestions would be appreciated and pictures would be outstanding. thanks a bunch peeps.

You've seen it. Just a '89 mustang block, decked and line bored. Stock crank, deburred. Stock rods, polished beams. Balanced rotating assembly. Stock HO cam, advanced 4 degrees. Stock forged pistons. AFR 165 heads, slightly milled. Compression ratio is about 9.7:1. Explorer intake manifold, serp system, oil pan and oil cooler. 19 lb injectors and A9P ECU. It's an economy engine, gets 30% better mileage than the stock 302/2bbl ever did and has 2 or 3 more horsepower.

Where does the Control for the temp go? Are putting it on the reyurn line back to te pump? Is there no need to use the bottom tube either? Thanks Viper for all your help.

Sorry, I should have explained a little. I used the same hose for both tubes. You'll need to trim the hoses a little to get them to fit. Then just cut one where you want to install the valve. I put the valve on the return side because it fit better.

My 64 F100 has the same type of control valve. You can see it in this pic right on the fenderwell. This is the same way it was set up from the factory 223 but hooked up to my 460. right in front of the battery on the passenger fenderwell, behind the MSD box. Image

So that valve has a 90 in the tubing? That could work well.

Yeah, I didnt get a close look at the Bronco but its straight if I remember right.
Oh and just a thought. Its good to open that valve now and then in the summer to let fresh coolant get circulated through there.

How are doing the front. I am sure the top goes to the water pump but doesn't that leave the bottom one open with no where to go.

BOB one runs straight into the heater core, then the other line runs through the control valve then into the core. I would run the one from the water pump into the valve then into the core and return straight back. I think that is what you are asking.

One goes to the pump and the other goes to the intake manifold.

It think my typing was faster than me thinking when I asked the last question. Went and looked and answered my own question.
