Pressing ball joints

Postby Justin » Sun Apr 17, 2011 10:51 pm

I'm planning to get some steps done on my disc swap this week and am going to start by getting the ball joints pressed into the new knuckles. I'm planning on using a free-to-borrow Autozone ball joint tool. Anyone have any advice? Haven't done it before, but it looks pretty straightforward.

I have a ball joint press, all adapters, big compressor and nice impact if you wanted to bring it to my place and do them. It is a bit of a drive for you but I would be happy to help!

Thanks! I may well take you up on that. I've been meaning to run some errands down your way, so I'll PM you if I'm able. Would this weekend work for you?

If no one can help you out, NAPAs used to have machine shops, the one close to me does, and they charged me $12 a joint to press the old ones out & the new ones in. They were ready in about an hour.

This weekend would work fine for me. If it is saturday it will have to be after 4. Sunday would work any time until 5.
