Post Who's running rear discs?
So, after installing my 6th drum and pads in as many months (did a brake job on the '69 before I sold it), I'm fed up. I dunno what it is with drum brake components lately, but they are just pissing me off. Between figuring out drum size, finding a store that carries everything, and then dealing with springs that seem to be getting shorter and shorter every year, I'm nearly ready for a change.

So, who is running rear disc brakes?
What set ups are you running?
What was the approximate wallet damage to make the swap happen?

I did rear brakes on mine about 2 months ago. I found O'reilly Auto Parts had everything I needed in stock at the Parker, CO store. I replaced all the springs, both wheel cylinders and the shoes. All told, I spent around $60.00 and haven't had any problems (yet).

Im running a tsm rear disc setup on my 79. Its made in castle rock and runs 260. All is n eeded from there are the hoses and calipers. It uses a cj7 rotor and gm car caliper. All in total about 350-400$

I have rear discs - but ZOSO recognized that they were not working correctly so technically I am running NO Rear Brakes lmao

Post Re: Who's running rear discs?
I've got the BC kit on the rear. I am not familiar with the TSM that ZOSO is talking about, but the BC kit is 82 caddy calipers, doesn't require pulling the axle like the Lincoln swap does and is about a half day swap from start to finish. Comes in at about $350 with no calipers or something like $550 with new calipers. I love it, it's simple to put on with one exception...you have to relocate the shock mount on the axle tube. Other than that, I like it a lot.

I've seen the TSM kit listed on both WH and JBG, IIRC. I'd prefer to not relocate any shock mounts as of yet, but suppose I will need to if I want this to happen. I didn't look at the BC kit yet.

Gary, still on hold with my HB install. I'm caving and having Whisler build me lines. Tired of trying to mix and match.

I have GM calipers on the rear. But the PO was a dums a$$ and didn't get the ones with the parking brake. So I am now searching for just the parking brake.

I think they are off a mid 80's eldorado? Single piston style. I remember that what ever they came off uses the same ones in the front, with out the parking brake. ...I guess I have front GM discs in the rear then?

...If you need any lines, call "Parker Stores" off Santa Fe and Oxford. They can just fab them up for you while you wait!

running the wilwoods on the back of the EB. Similar to the explorer setup, but works with big bearing ends. Pretty pricey, but it works great.

I'm definitely looking to keep parking brake capability while keeping costs as low as possible. I wonder if I can just fab up some backing plates and use something similar to the Lincoln caliper set up.

My rear axle is out of a '77 Lincoln Mark V with factory discs. A few years ago, bought new pads to find out the rotors were thicker than the caliper would allow, so I had to sand down my new pads to fit. CJ front rotors would have worked fine, so next time...

It has the e-brake option, but I don't have it setup. I need to get that done. Would like to have a console handle mounted to the left of the drivers seat for the e-brake.
