Stock power steering help!!
Hi guys I got a dumb ass question but this thing is about to drive me crazy.. I pieced together a powersteering set up for my 66 and for some odd reason I cant get the power steering pump to mount to my 302...its a stock set up off a 302 so I was told but Im having trouble getting the two brackets to line up...is there more brackets then what I have?? I have the aluminum one that attaches to the pump and one metal one that i figured would come off the motor and mount to the aluminum one or something....I tried it many different ways and it dont seem to want to line up..anyone have any info or pics on this you can share??

Let's see pics of what you have. Is it a saginaw or ford pump.

Re: Stock power steering help!!
The pump mount should go against the head and the 2nd bracket will bolt to the water pump then over the corner of the steering pump and the long bolt will go through both brackets into the side of th head. Sometimes you might have to use a washer or 2 to line everything up.

Re: Stock power steering help!!
If I remember right, there needs to be a spacer behind the pump bracket (3/8" - 1/2") to line up the belt. Not sure if that could be part of the hassle too.

Re: Stock power steering help!!
Sorry the brackets are giving you trouble brother. I went out and looked at my Bronco and your water pump doesn't quite look like mine. No idea why. Looks like everything should line up though according to your pics. Just to make sure, you are trying to bolt it up 1->1 and 2->2 (see pics), right?

Re: Stock power steering help!!
Not a big deal man i think vipers right they must have different brackets to different series of motors just need to find out which one now.. might be wise to just hit a junk yard and search for that bracket with the same waterpump if i can find one..
