Post Painting up my bronco.
Well I have been looking around and a decent paint job is about 1700$ so I have decided to do it myself. I am going to order a new quarter panel and a rocker panel because some of mine are damaged and I was thinking I would take the whole thing apart and rent a spray gun and sand everything down, prime it bla bla bla. I am going camping for a week but after I get back college starts august 15th regardless so I will have about two weeks to do the whole thing and I am considering working pretty much around the clock.

So the question is how much is it going to cost in rentals of a paint gun, should I just by one or what? Is it hard to take the body panels off? I have one bad rust spot and its under the driver seat on the tub and then on my tailgate and I was thinking of just buying a new one. what do you guys think?

The quarter panels are welded in to the tub. It might be possible to cut out just the panel and weld another in. I am thinking a few guys here have done it already.

I would suggest waiting and do it when you have more than 2 weeks. Sometimes body work can go really well, but other times you run into other messes. I learned everything I have ever learned the hard way because im stubborn and have that "mans one way mentality" Save your money, and when your on break the next time from school, youll be better prepared. Do some more research and plan ahead. it will be well worth knowing it will be done right if your patient with the paint/body. FYI it takes more than one day just to do painting alone, prep work alone can be a day or 3 body panels can take a lot longer than you think when doing them right.

no offense, Just saying.
