Recommendations for paint?

Postby ClayJ » Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:47 am

Every time I take my newly running Bronco to show my friends, I get 2 comments.

First - Wow that sure runs great.
Second - Are you going to repaint it?

I had it painted just 20 years ago!!!

I have very little budget left and might even have to put it on the credit card. Top all that off with me knowing very little about body restoration. I think I'm probably looking at an Earl Shieb or some other cheap place just to get some non faded color and a bit better protection on the bare metal that's become exposed.

Anyone know of a better shop that would do a decent job without costing me thousands?

The Bronco Hut has recently started professionally painting Broncos. They just did their "flagship" Bronco a metallic blue and it is awesome. I'd give Melissa a call and let her know I mentioned that you were painting Broncos and would like a quote. From talking with her, it's MUCH cheaper than the paint shops out there. They've got a new guy on staff that is a highly skilled painter.

Bronco Hut is turning out be more than just a part resource. I am shocked they are offering Painting service, but I will definitely get a quote before doing it myself. I would love to see pics of their first paint job. Thanks for sharing.

Melissa said they really like their new painter, she spoke about it when she was up at the last super cruise in Golden. I believe her comment was that they weren't going to fire him after two weeks! Yikes!

For the guy that wants to do some of the bodywork on their own; Choice Paint Supply on Alameda (303.777.7283) is a great place to get products and look over paint chips. They are helpful and know what they are talking about.

As far as a fair bump and paint guy call Al at Clark' Autobody. He is a great guy and will work a deal with you for a nice paint job that fits just about any budget. 303.296.8657. Tell him Bronco Billie sent you down there. The shops in the get-ho but he turns out nice work.
