Post EFI Costs
Hey guys just polling what yards and what price a efi conversion cost with mostly junkyard parts ( sensor replacement is acceptable)?

It can probably be done for $400-$500. Hard part is finding a mustang ECM and a good harness. Most other parts are universal across most Fords of that era.

I converted to '93 Mass Air Mustang setup. All used-parts except an RJM harness and it was $1500 in parts. I just threw it together with the used parts to see what happens..... it runs but has some major driveability issues. I expect to be replacing some sensors / injectors.....

Can't I use a f150 351 harness? Didn't they use mass air on those too?

Post Re: EFI Costs
I used the parts from a '91 Mustang MAF, harness, ECU, sensors, and injectors. The original cost was $950; I could get it to start cold, but once it was up to temp and I turned her off, she wouldn't start again until it was cold. I replaced several sensors and couldn't fix the issue. I had to scrap the harness for a Painless set up (an additional $450) and then scrap the ECU for the Ford Racing ECU that was speced out in the instructions (an additional $450) :(. So I am into it for around $2000. Lessons learned :)

I injected mine for about $850. I found an rjm 5.0 harness(universal kit)new in the box on craigslist for $350, found a poorly listed a9l computer on Ebay for $60, new o2 sensors for $80, new gaskets everywhere for $40, fuel pumps and accumulator for $200 and all the rest(intakes, maf, injectors, iat, coolant temp, etc.) from a coworker for $80. About a weekend worth of work and it runs great! Well worth it at twice the price IMO!

What about the cost of a new radiator? is it needed? what about wiring harness? and fuel tanks 23 gallon? it seems these are all kid of needed? it would cost 1200 or so?
I was just wondering if the ways around these items were just as dependable? cooling problems, wiring, and and fuel issues, I only run the original rear tank?
I can see getting a motor from the yard, do i need to rebuild it?

You can use the original radiator. I used a 69 GTO 400V8 upper radiator hose, and the stock lower with the stock water pump. You'll have more to do if you are running a serp set up.

The RJM harness can be had for around $500.00. You can probably use a Mustang harness, but I didn't want to mess with old wires, my truck already has enough of those.

You can use the stock tank, just use any low pressure (carb) electric fuel pump @ the tank,

then an accumulator
http://www.bcbroncos.com/store/product_ ... cts_id=119
http://www.bcbroncos.com/store/product_ ... ts_id=1355

then a high pressure pump, I used one from a late 80' Ford truck (89 Bronco 5.0- for reference), Airtex E2000 model. Find one at a salvage yard for the mounting bracket.

The EFI tank w/fuel pump inside is an advantage, it keeps the pump cool, and is simpler, and I'll upgrade someday probably, but the above set up is supposed to work good.

Here is a diagram, you can eliminate the switching valve & extra wiring if you only use one tank.
http://www.bcbroncos.com/fuel%20system% ... 20mark.pdf

You can skip the low press pump & accumulator if you are sure you won't run the high press pump dry. But the lp pump & accumulator are insurance against burning up the hp pump.

The Explorer motors are supposed to last 200k miles, if treated well, so it depends on the motor you find. If you use an Explorer motor, you'll have to use a different lower rad hose, and/or build a cross over (because of the serp belt set up & reverse rotation water pump dumps on the other side of the motor from stock). Zilla did one. Or use a different rad, the Explorer 4.0 rad is supposed to fit well and has the in/out reversed from stock.

I have some left ober parts from mine if you need something on the cheap. Upper and lower intakes, fuel accumulator, some other random stuff if you need it.

Also if you get a stock harness you can always send it out to Kolibar customs. they reworked mine for $250 and it works great. Total cost of the whole harness was $350 after i found one on ebay.

Thans guys.

B.O.B-I dont have anything for the swap yet mostly been waiting to see what I can find all together. let me know what you have and what prices are.

Also on another side note, I am looking at an AOD swap what is needed with a stock 302 or efi 302 to make them reliable? I have read about 4r70 internals swapped over and bad pump issues? Can anybody give me moe details on this?
