What's "wrong" with this picture?
So, considering my current set up, have a look at this picture and tell me what's "wrong" with this. First clue in 1 hour. Second 1 hour after that if no one guesses. And attendees of the Kinder Welcome Back/76 Birthday party, you're not allowed to guess. Provided you can even remember what I talked about.

It's a GT40/Explorer upper.
Yeah, pictures suck. My iPhone is on it's last legs.

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
It is a truck lower. (Getting very warm.)
Senders and sensors are immaterial to the answer.

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
Absolutely nothing! After keeping eyes peeled for several months now, I found an old Craigslist ad in Los Angeles for a Lightning lower intake (searchtempest.com be praised). Add to that my recent score of the Explorer/GT40 upper from the salvage yard the other day, and 2013 should see me dropping in an EFI 5.8L in to the 72.

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
I just found one and Paypal'd a guy on Corral.net today! Wooooohoooooo, today was a good day. Got a good price, as far as 5.8 GT40 intakes go too. Long term plans, but I've been watching for a while! Now I can justify buying a good set of heads for my future 351. From his pics casting # is F3TE. A cast iron marine one was posted yesterday too. There have been almost 1/day for the last week or so on corral.net, if anyone is looking, I've passed up or been beaten to the punch multiple times over the last 6 months or so. http://forums.corral.net/forums/attachm ... ag1198-jpg

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
Glad I didn't give away my "secret" spot till I had taken advantage of it.
I was pretty stoked at the price, I could barely sleep till I heard back and paypal'd him. I've seen them sell pretty quick even over $400.00, so I consider myself lucky. I get the "digested" classifieds emailed each evening, and didn't respond for a few hours after he posted, and I figured someone else had probably beat me. I kept running home from work today, checking the internet till I was sure I'd "won"!

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
I saw the way the sale panned out and it looked a bit shady on the seller's part to me. "First one to paypal me money..." Really? So 20 people send you cash and then expect you might return it when they didn't win? Crazy.
Anyhow... I like to play out the "forgotten" Craigslist postings. I search the parts sections daily and email any interesting ads to myself. I give it a week, two weeks maybe, and then check to see if the ad is still up. If it is, i move to make an offer. Even better if the seller doesn't provide a very good description or mislabels stuff.
What do you think your timeline will be for installing that puppy? I'm shooting for next summer but I am also planning to swap in an entirely rebuilt driveline at that time.

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
I kinda freaked out when I saw he posted his address on the thread. He did send me his paypal address, about 10 min before his public post. But I was already at work. So I didn't get it till I came home for lunch, 3 hours later. I had an earlier email from him stating he still had the intake, I wondered why he didn't include his paypal address in that email. I agree, he broke the unwritten law of "first come, first served". I thought the same thing, what if I was second to post $ to his account? Would I get my money back? I looked over the seller's trader rating and everything seems very positive, so I'm assuming I'll get the intake. Time will tell. Hope I don't have to fight to get this resolved.
I don't have a schedule to get this done. I'm probably going to rebuild my 351, since my 302 is strong and my 351 was bought from Craigslist, and I'm not 100% sure of its condition. It had a cracked exhaust manifold, and sat outside for a while before I got it. I was mid way through my EFI swap when I got it, and haven't taken anymore time with the 351 since I put it on the engine stand. I'm thinking of a rebuild, with new cam and heads. I want it to be strong, but reliable, nothing too wild (aka: Airbur, although a stroker did cross my mind at one time).
Summer or winter of '13 would be great. I'd like to do a 4R70W and Atlas at the same time, but the motor will probably come first (trans & tcase would require new gearing, and probably a new locker). If my t-case gives up, I'll do the trans & tcase first (my t-case is one of the last original parts in my truck). A new suspension is going to come first. I must have ADD, I can't concentrate on one thing at a time!

Re: What's "wrong" with this picture?
I wanted to use the 400 I had in the 79 Bronco I pulled my axles from. Then, I realized the 400 didn't really fit well, and there was no good EFI kit. Then, I moved to the idea of a 408, too. Now I'm back to reality with a 351. I just talked to a guy today, who said I should stroke the hell out of the 351, but I think I'm over that idea. (He's stroking a 428 block to something like 460 for his Gran Torino). I'm interested in seeing how Airburs works/cools/etc when he finishes it. I think a strong 351 will be well balanced with the rest of my drive line. A 400 cubic inch motor would end up blowing up trans, tcases, axles, etc. And I'm not ready for D60s.
