That is the very reason I had to rewire mine. The PO's son had installed a stereo and amp that looked like a dash fire waiting to happen. I went with a Centech harness and so far so good. I don't hate messing with wiring but chasing down gremlins can be a pain at times.
Good luck, Mark

+1 on the centech harness. I installed that in the 74 and it works great. Electrical is a pain but is very simple when you know how it all works.

Look for a burnt ignition resistor wire. It's in the red-green wire that connects to the ignition switch.

I posted diagrams in the Good Tech Links thread.

Thanks guys. Could not get to the breakfast or to work on it. I spent all day with my boys..... moving office furnature. I acquired a complete mortgage companies furnishings (10 or more desks etc) worth of stuff. I need 3 or 4 . So did not get to work on the bronx yesterday the plan is for today once the owner gets up will be heading down to the shop to get starte. Thanks for the tips. We will check those first.

And if anyone needs any office furnature...desks and chairs, just let me know...cheap.... .maybe even cheaper than kmart bluelight specials. Perhaps even free if you love wiring or carbs

Also check the voltage on the coil. should have 12v when starting then once running should cut back to 9-10volts.

4 hrs and lots of cutting, splicing, soldering, heat shrinking and all the effected harness under the dash is replaced (and as a bonus, the spedo cluster is now clean, clear and bright - of course there is always something, the fuel gage is not working, I am sure it came lose as we fought the spedo back in). The whole under dash harnes is now in new plastic wiring looms so hopefully this never happens again.

Culprit of the lack of spark - PO has cut off one of the harnes conections at the ignition and replaced it with a bunch of individual push on connections. One of them came loose. If anyone has a section of harnes from under the hood with these connections I would much appreciate it if you would be so kind as to sell it to me.

The only thing we were not able to fix - the horn. That wire is completly gone. Yellow and green. Remenants and melted peices of plastic insulation are all that is left here and there. So that will be replaced completly on another date. Right now, I have had enough wire and wallowing on the floor under the dash.

New seats - thanks Plumdr. They look awesome and Andrew absolutly loves them.

Next on the list:
* Roll cage with harness bar
* Rear bumper with tire carrier (I will check the schedule and make sure the 29th works)
* Horn.... and some more interior lighting
* Fabricate a new center console (the old wood boxx will not longer fit between the seats)
* And of course - I think the very first thing - attack that carb.

Thanks all for the tips and help.

Greg - the bumper build is at your house so I think you can change the schedule. I thought you stated you were out of town the 15th and 22nd, so we went the 29th. Let us know if there is a conflict.

Thanks Kinder,

I will look at what we have but right off hand, I do not think that is what we have. Off hand I want ot say we have different color wires.

On another note - I will need to schedule the bumper build for January 22. I will be in Aspen for a hockey game on the 29th. I will post up a thread in the staging area section.

On the wiring, as I said, once the sun comes up and I can step away from my desk for a few minutes I will check it.

Thanks

Viper, I doesn't look like what I have in my truck, but the wires are the same in color and combo. Orange (maybe use to be red), green w/red strip or dash, and two yellow. Hockeydad, if that isn't the connector I may still have what you need since I have most of the loom.
