Remove shackle bushing
I'm in the process of pressing new bushings into my rear leaf springs. I cannot figure out how to extract the outer sleeve of the bushing in the shackle. I've tried pressing it with a large socket on the bottom and a smaller one on top with no luck. I didn't want to put too much pressure on it since it's at crotch level and seemed a little precarious. Ideas?

Hacksaw. Make three to four cuts around the inside diameter of the old outer bushing sleeve. Pound out with hammer and chisel.
Or go by the dies needed for your press to knock them out.

Re: Remove shackle bushing
Thanks, that did the trick. One cut through the bushing and a little air chisel action popped it right out.

Sawzalls work good too.

Re: Remove shackle bushing
Yeah, I really, really need to buy one of those. I need one to finish cutting off my track bar bracket. I'd hack it off but someone wants it pretty.
