You know the ones that allow you to use the 3.73 and down carrier for 4.10 and up? Has anyone actually used these? Last time i did a d44 (10 years ago) the cost difference of the thick gears compared to regular ones were just as expensive as the cost of buying the right carrier so it didn't make sense. Now you can find the thick ones for 10-15 bucks more than the regular ones so I thought I would touch base with you guys and see if anyone has used em. Any drawbacks?

My only experience with them was setting up Friday"s D44 a few months back and I struggled to get a good pattern out of them. I don't believe he's on the road with his yet, If nobody else posts up I'd search Pirate (yeah I know they are rough over there) and I8HMUD for feedback.

I've installed a few sets. All yukon sets. Never had an issue. I don't see a reason not to run them. Same size pinion and thicker ring "should" equate to less ring gear deflection and a stronger gearset overall.
