alternator woes..

Postby ZOSO » Wed Aug 24, 2016 4:00 pm

Ok so in the middle of my testing here on the efi. Last night I disconnected the batteries on the bronco. Today I hooked them up to run some tests on some sensors. Only hooked up for about 15-20 minutes. Just so happened to touch the back of the alternator and it was warm to the touch. What would cause that?

When the key is on, the field coils are energized creating a ginormous magnetic field. They get hot.
