Post New oil pan leak
After the breakfast on Saturday, I decided to tackle my oil pan replacement. I bought the dual sump oil pan kit from Duff, although I think the pan from Duff is the same as what the rest of the vendors sell.

I think I have a good seal against the block. I installed it, ran the truck, and then re-torqued some of the bolts (there was some wetness around a couple of them). However, the only leak I can find on it now is that the plugs are leaking! Called Duff and they had no answers.

Is there some sort of crush washer I should be using? Or a teflon washer? I don't want to use teflon tape or silicon on it.

Any thoughts?

Yes drainplugs usually have a crush washer or plastic washer to seal them up. I know advance auto has some plastic ones.

Any of the auto parts places have a package with an assortment of those washers in various materials. I just bought a pack from autozone Saturday morning. At autozone they were over near the transmission fluids and stuff on a rack with oil plugs and other bits.

Copper is an alternative as well.

Got the drain plugs fixed...just a couple synthetic fiber washers. I'm just surprised it didn't come with anything.

Next problem: the dipstick leaks. It's one of the Lokar screw in ones. It appears to be leaking from around the top of the flare nut. I'm going to pull that soon to see if I got it seated in there correctly. Otherwise, I think I'm going to run a quick bead of 'the right stuff' around the top of the flare nut. I can't seem to find a better solution.

I picked some of this up to use on my drain plugs, and filter threads. I would guess it would work for the duo stick. I think it was at Autozone by the drain plug washers. Image
