? for you EFI gurus

Postby B.O.B. » Fri Feb 11, 2011 3:46 pm

Trying to finish up my wiring on my efi and was wondering if I cut the wires that go to the coil if I can use an older style coil or if I need to go to a newer coil. I would think that it would work and I think that i saw it done somewhere but can't remember. Your thoughts appreciated.

It should work as long as it is not a coil that requires a resistor. But my question to you is....Why would you want to use an older coil? The EFI coils pack more punch and are still cheap and plentiful!

I had bought a msd blaster coil before I decided to go EFI. Still fairly new and would hate to waste it and by a new one.

I completely agree. Wrecking yards are filled with TFI coils and some even has nice fender mounting brackets. Can't see them being more than a few dollars. Your blaster coil is not going to produce as much voltage as a TFI coil.
