Upper and lower quarter panel question

Postby rooster » Thu May 03, 2018 6:19 am

My bronco has been set on its side before i bought it, at first i used a portapower and BFH to pound the side back out, but it has always had a bowto it that i couldn't get out and it was really Annoying me. I bought new quarters from bronco hut a while back and finally got aroundto tearing the old ones out. My questions are any of you guys using seam sealer on the weld seams? My planwas to strip the primer off where it is to be welded and put some weld thru primer on instead. Just didn't know if that was good enough. Also it appears that flared out spot for the door striker is stamped slightly off where it should be. I am having a terrible time getting the upper in with the plate the striker bolts to.

I used seam sealer between my upper and lower. I sprayed epoxy first so that the seam was well coated, then applied the sealer. That area needs as much protection as possible. The best method of panel bond as it will hold the panels and seal out water.

That fitment issue is pretty common with the aftermarket panels. You can seach on CB and see. They all almost have to be cut and modified to fit nice.

Cutting it out and moving it down an inch is exactly what i did, if i was to do it over again i would have moved it 3/4 of an inch down as that would've centered it nearly perfect. Oh well. Maybe someone will find this helpful.

Also sorry for the sideways pics... all i have is my phone at the moment and no matter how i try to orient the pictures they always seem to get turned sideways...
