Engine install

Postby Backcountryrenegade » Sat Jun 09, 2018 9:11 am

Morning everyone! I’m looking for some help installing my new motor. Pulling a 302 and dropping the 351W in the 75. I don’t have any experience with this at all- If anybody’s bored this weekend I’d love the advice and/or help. I live in Elizabeth. Happy to provide beers, burgers, or whatever to anybody interested in meeting a new Bronco guy and turning some wrenches. Thank you!!!

Engine install

I’d love to help but I’m a long way away and my “honey do” list is long. I’ll tell you this, when I dropped in my 351W I forgot to get a new (or reconditioned) flywheel and inspection cover plate. Don’t overlook these. Also, get the longest pry bar available to orient the engine into the mounts. I installed mine without the transmission, but if you want to install engine/trans together, go borrow one of the engine lift balancer tool so you can tilt the engine and make sure everything clears. You’ll need one other helper, no matter what; so don’t try to do it yourself. And don’t recruit your wife... I’ll be more problematic than when spouses try to set up a campsite together.... ;)Image

/\/\ You can get one of those for $25 to $30, I would just buy it.
Home Depot has had them for less than Harbor Freight.
