Kingston Peak 8/6/11

Postby Justin » Sun Aug 07, 2011 4:20 pm

Had a family camping trip at Golden Gate Canyon State Park with the in-laws planned months ago, otherwise I would have been with the CCB crew in Ouray. I figured Kingston Peak would be an OK consolation prize. It ended up being just my EB, my sister on her quad and my brother in law on his Cherokee, but I thought I'd share pics anyway. The weather was perfect, the truck ran well (this was its first time over 12,000 feet-no problems at all), and both me and my brother in law had a chance to trail test new parts. Good day all around!

Beautiful day, as is any day off roading in a Bronco. I've done plenty of mix vehicle trips, and though there isn't any Bronco love going on, it was still good times. Wish I could have been there for you.

Thanks! It was a total blast. Might be a great trail for the Costco crawler...

No kidding - looks like a nice trail. What is the rating on that trail? Any Vapor Lock issues?

Low rating of 3, high of 4. I walked up it and my brother in law on 33s with only a LSD in the rear had no problems either. You can do most of it in 2wd, although we did most of the second half in 4low to slow down and soften the bumps a bit.

No vapor lock issues, although my truck has been set up to get rid of them (mostly routing fuel lines away from the headers and other hot areas and installation of a carb spacer to reduce heat transfer to the carb).
