Mesquito Pass - REVISED - July 20th. CANCELLED

Postby ScottBarnes » Mon Jul 07, 2014 7:11 am

UPDATE -- I JUST FOUND OUT THE PASS IS STILL BLOCKED BY 7+ FEET OF SNOW, SO WE WILL RESCHEDULE THIS FOR AUGUST. MAYBE WE CAN GET MORE INTEREST THEN AS WELL.

BTW -- just realized I have been spelling it incorrectly!! Guess it's because I went to Mesquite High School -- not Mosquito High School! LOL

OK -- Let's try this;

Meet at my place in Breckenridge Sunday morning (July 20th) about 10:00. Do a pancake, egg, bacon, sausage breakfast and my house. When we are finished eating, we head over Hoosier pass and then shoot over Mesquito Pass to Leadville. From Leadville, we can all do our own thing. I'm sure most of you have done it before, but t's a nice, easy, family friendly run that even stock Broncos with kids can enjoy. If you have an interest, let me know. Scott

Can't do this week but maybe over the weekend or next weekend? Might even bring the 76 and get it dirty ;)

That sounds more like a challenge to me...

Bushducks.com has this to say:

7/18/14 - Open all the way. But there is a tricky section just east of the pass where you must squeeze by a snow bank on a tippy slope. The snow just above North London Mine is easily bypassed (without going into the meadow as some have done :-(
