I want to build a pinion guard and I need a pattern for the pinion retainer ie. 1 shim and some plate steel 1 square foot not much more

I have a piece of 30' X 18" X 3/16" (I'd have to go remeasure for certain) plate steel you can cut a hunk out of if you want it. Free to a good home!
